Invercargill has one big headline act and I'll just say it straight: the Bill Richardson Transport World. Even if vehicles aren't really your thing, this place is fun and genuinely quirky. You'll get a surprise or two wandering around it, and it works well for kids too. The rest of the city? You could probably detour past it honestly.
A Solid Base More Than a Destination
That said, Invercargill earns its place as the main service hub for the region. Stock up, sort yourself out, and if you need a proper night with full facilities, the Invercargill Holiday Park is my pick for camping in this part of the world. It's a good base before you head into The Catlins or out along the southern coast.
