Urban jungle gym - let your monkeys run wild
Named in memory of Christchurch's much-loved children's author Margaret Mahy, this playground is just as crazy and joy-making as her books. Featuring water cannons, double flying fox, 4m-wide slide, sand play, climbing and swinging, not to mention the thrillingly named Tower of Terror spiral slide. Add grassy picnic areas and seating, plus icecream and coffee vendors, and it's a ripper time for young and old (and all between).

What an amazing park.
Something for all ages and interests. Swings, mini trampolines, slides, climbing things and a couple of zip lines as well. Fantastic way to spend a couple of hours with the kids. Be sure to try the donuts from one of the food vans.

This must be the 'creme de la creme' of playgrounds - top of the range materials and equipment, and an awesome range of activities to suit kids from toddler to teen.
Expect messiness, especially if you have a little one, because the sand play area (a bit of water thrown in for good measure) attracts them like moths to a flame. It was still a bit cold for the water cannons and sprinklers, but in summer it would be fantastic. My kids love climbing the spiderweb and zooming full tilt down the wide slide. There are always HEAPS of kids here, which can be a bit overwhelming, but there's enough to do that no one misses out.
