Time: all over an hour
The Port Hills to Christchurch are the equivalent of the Skytower in Auckland - a very distinctive landmark. The hills are a part of the extinct Lyttelton Volcano.
There are several well marked and well used walks to do in the Port Hills along the Crater Rim Walkway.
The walks pass through a mix of native and exotic forest - and you are treated with awesome views over Lyttelton Harbour, Christchurch City and the Canterbury Plains.
Walking is exposed to sun and wind, and facilities are limited. this area is also popular with mountain bikers, runners and rock climbers.
