  • Arrived here late after some penguin spotting at Akaroa but there was masses of space in a giant field.

Found a spot near one of the toilet blocks on some flat grass. Quiet and peaceful

  • Pleasant, spacious place.

Green, with trees that block the wind somewhat.

When we arrived, unfortunately, some rowdy motorcyclists were using the road as a race track and, although not excessively loud, you can hear the basses from the kids partying on Saturday night.

    Nevertheless, definitely recommended.

  • Fantastic free campsite next to a lovely shallow river for any vehicle, tent, etc.

Clean flush toilets including disabled and a place to wash dishes too.

Water is not potable, so boil before drinking.

Many thanks to Selwyn council for providing these fantast facilities free of charge!

  • Great spot lots of room 3 different sites next to each other.

Long drops but were clean. Only down side was one group was up til 12am with loud talking and music but there is lots of space just take the time to observe who you are putting urself next to which we didn’t do and regretted our tent spot. But place itself fantastic 😊

  • Here on a stormy high season Friday and the place is 70% empty!

Lots of flat ground with trees to break the wind a bit. Normal pit toilet. Soft sounds of the Selwyn river in the background. Nice!

  • Very big campground.

A lot of even places. The toilets were clean. Nice place for kids to swim in the river.

  • November - it is much nicer than free paved carparks or open fields that many sites are like.

This allows car and tent camping and has many spots with privacy from 1 or 2 sides making it feel more relaxed with trees and planting.

Arive by 4pm to choose a spot you like if your not self-contained so a camper doesn't park next to you.

I imagine Dec/Jan this place is packed.

  • Large area, all very flat, with an impressive amount of shade.

We managed to find a spot even on the long weekend. Clean flush toilets. We didn't use the BBQ but other families were.
