    Fantastic little spot.

Close to the lake with only the sounds of nature. Lots of Weka and sandflies. Toilet block is clean and smells so fresh. Rubbish bins for small items only. Only 10 freedom camping spots, look out for the orange beacons.

    Really nice spot !

You need to arrive early to get a spot ! Really nice view on the lake and beautiful walk in the forest ! Only one problem : lot of sandflies !!

There is a limit of spots but I arrived very late & was outside the lines & was undisturbed.

It’s a quaint little lake town so not high demand for space. The toilet block was undergoing some construction but still functional, shows it’s a well maintained area.

    Phone signal: yes

    Sandflies: yes

Pretty quiet spot near a lake.

Space for 10 vehicles in the furthest lot. They check that everyone has a Self-contained sticker on their vehicle, and we saw a couple folks be asked to leave because they were not self contained. We got the last spot and pulled in around 7:30pm on a Saturday.

Plenty of sandflies, but there were clean flush toilets with a sink and soap (no light, so remember a head torch), but no drinking water or dumping areas. Overall very nice spot for a free stay (there is a donation box there if you want to contribute to maintenance!).

Arrived very late, but can see very good lake view, a very well build campsite, with good toilet and a lot of space, but self-contained campervan only, highly recommended.

Such a great place for an overnight.

10 spots for campers (clearly marked by orange sticks). Clean flush toilets, garbage bins and even soap at each sink!

It's a nice spot it gets filled early.

There is a donation box. Loos ok, rubbish bins and friendly weka.

    The sandflies are annoying.

We also thought the people in the boats were a bit inconsiderate to the swimmers.

I loved the set up, the space, the view and the facilities.

However there was ZERO sinage about the risk of flooding in heavy rain and I was flooded in with my caravan! I drove through VERY DEEP water with a wing and a prayer and cried the whole time because I was travelling solo and the one other camper had left in the middle of the night and not bothered to earn me 🥺 A warning sing could have saved me from the extremely traumatic experience.

Beautiful flat campsite well maintained with great toilets.

Lots of sandflies accompanied the fine warm weather in late September but not as nasty as Australian sand flies

The entrance is closed, I don't know why there is no information...

The camp seem really nice :) It's a gravel parking at the back just front of the lake, away from the road, nice toilets, some bins, a track to a summit start from the parking.

Beautiful wide spaces marked out by large rocks which makes it much nicer than just a car park, good toilets and right on the lake.

Warmest swim I had in NZ. Good walking tracks right by the spot too!

Amazing effort put in by the council.

Lovely sheltered area + toilets and all next to a gorgeous scenic lake (good for fishing). Parking spots nicely laid out with rocks and easily signposted. Water had risen a lot when we visited so lost the great van spaces by the lake, but not an issue. No portable water or rubbish bins. Sadly the sandflies were UNBEARABLE and after half an hour we had to give up and went all the way down to the lovely DOC lake Pearson flight (no sandflies!!).

Clean facilities (flush toilets, basin) and a nice view on the lake. Approx. space for 10 to 15 campervans.

We stayed the night here before heading to Arthurs Pass the next morning.

It was blowing a gale and rained almost all the time we were there, but it didn't take away from the natural beauty of this site. Toilets were good, views amazing. The night sky (when the rain stopped) was terrific. Not many spaces so don't leave it too late to arrive

This is a spacious, level, gravel campsite right on the edge of the lake.

Beautiful views but was rainy when we visited unfortunately. The toilets were clean and close to the camping area. Not a big town but useful for a night stopover, there is some information on various walks but we didn’t have time to do any. Can’t fault it, for a freedom camping option for self contained campers.

The place was not all that straightforward to find, but is super calm (though busy with campervans, we were lucky to find a spot arriving at 9pm).

Only park in the lot at the far end of the parking! Toilets are fine, water is not drinkable. The view is probably gorgeous but it was very foggy and windy when we were there.

Arrived early, but later place got crowded to capacity. Toilets could have used a cleaning. Only Water available was non potable.

Stunning beautiful place with great view of Lake and Mountains in the back.

    Beware of the Sandflies though.

A very picturesque place alongside beautiful lake Brunner.

While there are extensive grassed areas reserved for picnic parties at Iveagh bay the camping area is a rigidly defined 30 by 40 metre (approx) gravel parking lot with a slight downhill slope. There are flush toilets but no outside taps and numerous warnings that the water is "not fit for human consumption ". Judging by the mess after ANZAC weekend the few rubbish bins are not emptied frequently. This is a very popular freedom camping spot.complete with toilet paper in the bush about 150 metres away from the toilet block.
