Was a nice spot.
Now has homeless setting up. Dogs running about, and not picked up after. Lots of rubbish about the permanent sites. 3 nights max. Not now.

One of our favourite freedom camps so far.
Road in has minor potholes but very easy to avoid. Cannot currently swim in Pinders Pond due to toxic algae, but swam in the river 2 mins away from the main parking spots. Slightly uneven ground, but a beautiful spot to park up for the night.

Really lovely spot.
Super quiet little spot, only 3 other people were there at the same time, so plenty of room. Most of it is slightly sloped, so don't expect completely flat ground, but not a huge issue. As mentioned there are some larger pot holes on the way in, but again, really not a huge issue - just take it easy. Surprisingly the long drop there was very clean, equipped with toilet paper & sanitiser, so really no complaints there either. Overall, a great little spot, so would certainly recommend.

4 years ago, Brad commented that this place was over-rated.
We thought we’d check it out to see if he was right.
In our humble opinion: the pond is 10/10, but the area is dismal. The road in had large pot-holes, was soft sand and it was dusty as all hell, so when people drove past, plumes of dust were left in their wake. The toilet(s) were pretty rank. This could be such an amazing area, perhaps they need to charge people until they have enough funds to fix the road and put in some proper loo’s.

10 out of 10 for what uou need in a freedom camping Large area for parking.
Toilet has Flush long drop and basin with running water and very clean. Interesting info boards about the history of mining here. The walking and cycle trails run past. Would be great for a stop and a swim in summer. Local community have done a nice job in providing this facility.

Spent a night with family.
Place is great for kids and families in general -- a beautiful pond for swimming and next to a river. Toilet facilities are minimal though. This was one of the highlights of our trip.

Great campsite by a nice large pond.
21 motorhomes/caravans here on our nights stay. Lots more room to camp but not all this campsite is flat. You get what you pay for. Free is always good.

Wow! Great spot to camp for all including pets.
Plenty of flat areas to set up and a few private spots for tenting. Long drop plus over summer has several commercial chemical toilets. You’ll need to bring everything else including water. Busy over New Year period and especially at end of day as campers roll in. Clutha Gold cycle trail beside camp and close to Roxburgh for supplies. Nice swimming and fishing in dam.

We loved it!
Beautiful place, lots of space and thing to do such as fishing (get your licence first!), swimming, hiking and biking trails... only one toilet with a little sink to wash hands (not drinkable) very clean, however, it was out of season, I’m not sure with the camping full of people.

Lovely spot, nice views of the river and ‘pond’.
Toilet was ok, a bit smelly but not to bad. Not very level though. We had a horrible night though with someone driving circles around all the vans tooting their horn, sirens going and lights flashing at midnight quite a few times just to be annoying! Called the police and that soon stopped.

This spot is over-rated by the previous reviewers in my opinion compared to other similarly rated spots I have stayed at.
It is a large uneven dirt parking area without much charm. A bonus is that it is on Clutha Gold trail.

I love this spot.
Plenty of room on the 'main' field by the lakeshore and a few more private spots if you turn right at the entrance. Situated in a pine forest. The road and town is noticeable depending of the wind direction, therefore i give this spot 9 points.
If you take a more private spot be prepared to say 'hi' quite a lot, since people walk by if they are strolling around the lake.
The drive from Queenstown is astonishing! Take your time! Outer Earthish amazing.

A really beautiful stopover at Pinders Pond for self contained motorhomes, (I would call it a lake).Quite a few spots at different parts of the area with great views over the pond.
No water, and only a smelly longdrop.Just a few km's from Roxburgh on Teviot Rd.I think there may be a few "mozzies" too ,but they didn't bother us in May.
