Raspberry Flat is approx. 60 min drive from Wanaka township toward the Mt Aspiring National Park and 50% of this drive is on an unsealed road. There are also a few fords to navigate that are generally OK. But be cautious and always check them first.

One of our favorite campgrounds!
So quiet and secluded with plenty of space and beautiful views of Aspiring and the surrounding valley! The carpark is right at the trailhead of Rob Roy track (worth doing!) so it has great access to trails and nice restrooms. Road in is long (1-1.5 hours) and bumpy with deepish puddles to ford so maybe not ideal for a rental van, but we managed.

Amazing views, good access to the walking trails of the park.
The toilets were fine. No other facilities. Plenty of space for parking and all flat. We were woken up by some joy riders doing doughnuts in the car park at midnight and they tried to open our van. Make sure you lock your doors. I doubt this is common though.

This was a highlight for us.
Surrounded by beautiful mountains. Rob Roy’s glacier walk was near by and brilliant. Fords needed to be crossed which were easy - many were dry - but no doubt highly changeable depending on the weather. Nice response by farmers to a critical comment earlier about farming techniques. Toilets clean

This was our favorite site.
The road up was long but spectacular. We saw lambs galour, baby calves just born and the trip to the site was amazing. The site has drop toilets, no water. It has one undercover seating area.

The river running past so beautiful. The walk was closed to the glacier but when opened again will be amazing. There are other walks as alternatives. We were there in October. Check as they close the road soon after due to lambing season being in full swing.

Scenery was/is great.
Disappointing though to see so many stock animals actually in the river and creeks with effluent not only in the water but along both shores. Best practice is to fence all stock animals out of and away from waterways to keep from degrading the water quality, natural embankments and stream bed environment. In addition this river feeds Lake Wanaka, where all lakeside communities get their drinking water.

Stock owner - come on, lift your game. This is not a good look, this is your stewardship and you should be doing more to protect the health of the local communities.
