Tokomaru Bay Wharf and Ruins

With rocky headlands at each end of the bay and a golden beach, Tokomaru Bay sprawls along 8kms of coastline. Toko is an ideal place for swimming, surfing and fishing. It's an area rich in culture and history which has been cherished by kuia and koroua.

There's a feeling about this place. The ruins on the right as you get close and then on the left when you get to the wharf itself, it's quite something else.

Interesting fact about the Tokomaru Bay Wharf: Extensive wharf improvements and rock removal allowed vessels drawing up to 11 feet 6 inches to berth and the busiest years were those between 1913 and 1916 when 400 vessels were handled annually.

The latest wharf improvements started in 2020, so this historic landmark can live on!

There's mobile coverage at the Tokomaru Bay Wharf, the perfect opportunity to take some sweet snaps and share your good times.
