Located 7km from Gisborne city at the southern end of Wainui Beach, 1-2 hours return to enjoy the scenery. A reasonably difficult walk over sandy beach, then rocks and exposed reef.
Walk over sand and rocks to the relic lighthouse at the tip of Tuahine Point. Start from anywhere on southern Wainui Beach. Aim for 3 hours either side of low tide when sand and reef are exposed. Good walking shoes and nimble feet needed. Cool off with a swim in summer. You'll often see seals in winter. The cliffs are eroding constantly, so care is needed - steer clear of any explosed areas.
