Slide down water polished chutes, jump into crystal clear pools and abseil through showering waterfalls. That's what canyoning is about! Join one of our 5 exciting, action packed canyoning trips with fun guides and mind blowing scenery.
The canyoning adventures of Abel Tasman Canyons take place in three stunning parks in New Zealand: the famous Abel Tasman National Park, the wild and remote Kahurangi National Park and the more accessible Mount Richmond Forest Park. Abel Tasman Canyons offers guided trips through 5 different canyons. Each canyon has its own unique features. Some have more jumps, some have more abseils and some require more fitness.
On our canyoning trips you’ll access places that normally stay hidden from view. Our professional guides will take you to these amazing places and help you to take a step (or two) out of your comfort zone. Just bring a swimsuit, a towel, a pair of closed toed shoes and a bit of attitude. We'll take care of the rest.

Absolutely 10/10 experience!
Our guide Craig was bloomin fantastic, such a wealth of information on the whole area, the history, cultures and any flora and fauna we came across. His upbeat attitude was absolutely contagious and both myself and my partner (and I'm gonna assume the other two on the tour with us) had such an incredible time. Would go again in a heartbeat, it was worth every cent we spent on it and the experience was such a treat. We had a small group, just 4 and Craig and that was worth it's weight in gold ( and so was He!). If anyone is on the fence about going, absolutely do it! I'll have that experience to draw on forever now as a goldmine of laughs and adrenaline highs!
We splished our way down the Torrent River with Craig and it was such a fab-tastic experience!
The photos we get from the trip are just a bonus!!

Absolutely, 100%, super awesome adventure!!!
You start the day with a beautiful ride over to an island paradise in Abel Tasman Park. Then you go on a beautiful hike through the woods to the top of the island where you get a view that will blow your mind. Then slip down a secret path to a beautiful waterfall where you sit down for a picnic lunch. Then the adventure begins. You slip on a wetsuit and harness and travel down the river via a combination of natural waterslides, jumps down waterfalls into deep pools, ziplines across canyons and abseils down steep slopes. All is done under the expert guidance of your guide. We were lucky enough to get Pepijn as a guide and I felt safe and informed the entire time. He gave very clear directions and demonstrations. Book this, you won't regret it.

This was the best day in NZ!
We went a family of five, 17 years old daughter and twin boys age 13. The owners went above and beyond to make sure that we can take part in this adventure. Our guides Danelle and Pepijin were extremely professional and super fun. We got to swim, rappel, zip line and jump, and the best part that it was all done in the most amazing scenery possible.
If you love adventures don't think twice, this one is for you!!!

Best experience EVER in the Abel Tasman!
This was my third time with Toine and his crew and they have delivered a fantastic day from start to finish, with lots of encouragement, lots of fun and lots of food! This time we've chosen the Waterfall Canyon which was on another level. I would recommend this to anyone who would like a unique adventure, tough but also very rewarding, and would love to see a part of the Abel Tasman that only very few people get to see. I'll definitely come back for another round, worth every dollar! Thanks Toine and Zeb for the awesome day! To next time!

The entire day was amazing!
For me the guides (Alex & Donella) were the best; they were fun & friendly but also patient, kind & caring :)
Jumping, abseiling, sliding, ziplining- it was all great! They even let us bring our travel mascot plant on the first leg of the journey!

Oh em gee this experience was absolutely epic.
Toine and Oscar were so incredibly knowledgeable (and easy on the eyes if ya know what I’m saying). I literally cannot recommend enough. For someone who has never done this before it not only pushes you to do things you never thought you never could but also have an amazingly fun time while doing it! 10/10 and will be doing this again thanks to this amazing team!

We had an amazing canyoning experience doing the torrent river trip.

This was the highlight of our trip!
Our guide Oscar was professional and fun! We had a great time sliding down rocks, jumping into pristine pools and zipping down lines. Great fun and a must do for anyone visiting the area.

My sister and I did the Torrent River trip with the lovely guides Oscar and Mark.
Enjoyed a nice cruise on the Aqua taxi to the beautiful beach of Anchorage, (last proper toilet stop here I advise you go lol) then did a hike up to the top of the canyon and had some lunch before we started- they took my sister and I's fussy dietary requirements seriously and made sure we were catered for which was appreciated.
We then put on our equipment and had a wonderful time jumping off rocks, sliding down rockslides and cannonballing off waterfalls! I loved the ziplines, so much fun! Managed to do a lot of things I didn't think I'd be able to, so enjoyed pushing my comfort zones, the guides were great and made us feel safe at all times!
Was a privilege to see such a beautiful untouched part of paradise where others can't go unless on this trip!
Awesome adrenaline buzz with a fun group and amazing guides with some good banter! Love how you could get free photo memories of your adventure as well, they were up on dropbox just a couple of hours later!
Thanks so much Abel Tasman Canyoning, I faced the fear and loved it and now my daughter is amping to do it so i'm sure we will be back next year, and will highly recommend to others to do this!

I was lucky enough to get on a waterfall creek trip it was a long day but very well worth it.
I do canyoning at home in the us and was excited to learn some new skills and techniques. Oscar and Adrian were great. And this has nothing to do with canyoning but the food situation was unbelievable.

Diese Canyon- tour ist absolut zu empfehlen.
Ich(48) und meine Tochter (13) trafen unseren Guide in Motueka. Dort probierten wir die Ausruestung an. Ihr bekommt Neopren- anzuege und Socken. Wir hatten uns in Motueka noch billige Turnschuhe gekauft, die wir im Wasser ueber den Socken tragen konnten. Ausser uns war nur noch ein junger Mann dabei. Mit dem Auto fuhren wir nach Takaka und mit dem Wassertaxi bis Anchorage. Von dort trugen wir unsere Ausruestung zum Canyon, ca. eine Stunde. Wir wurden sehr professionell betreut. Obwohl wir vorher noch nie klettern waren, keine Erfahrung also mit Abseilen und ich Høhenangst habe, war die Tour ein voller Erfolg. Wir sind ins Wasser gesprungen, aus bis zu 7m Høhe,(ich nicht ganz so hoch), haben uns abgeseilt, waren hinter Wasserfællen, sind durch Wasserrinnen gerutscht und Taubahn "gefahren". Wir wurden wæhrend der ganzen Tour mit Trinken und Essen versorgt und gefroren haben wir auch nicht. Daumen hoch. Ein tolles Erlebnis!!

My wife and I did the 'Torrent River' Canyoning trip and had an amazing time.
I'm always concerned these types of adventures will be too tame, however, the Torrent River did not disappoint. The abseils, jumps, ziplines and slides were all awesome.
The team (Ricky, Pete and Toine) were fantastic and made the experience a ton of fun while remaining professional - safety was clearly a top priority and we felt comfortable in their hands.
Communication leading up to the day was also clear and prompt which was very much appreciated. A storm was heading for Abel Tasman and the team made sure we were updated as to the status of our trip.
We would highly recommend Abel Tasman Canyons!

Having heard about canyoning before and doing something some what similar when I was younger I was definitely keen to do it when the opportunity for me to do so came up over summer.
I had spent a fair amount of time in the Abel Tasman before this experience but wow, I definitely saw the park from a different perspective on this day.
Straight from the get go these guys were so organised in booking my trip and giving clear instructions on what to bring, what is included and what the trip entails. We met our awesome guides in the morning who were with us for the duration of the tour until returning back to base in the afternoon.
The trip I went on was into Torrent River. Let me just say if you love water, adventure, a bit of a challenge and jumping off stuff then you've hit the jack pot! The trip was AMAZING from start to finish, always a chance to challenge your self a bit and the coolest part too is if there was something that you didn't really feel comfortable doing your guides will talk you through it thoroughly and there is always the option to go around or get lowered through a obstacle if you're really not feeling up to it.
One thing I really found about this trip also is that it is really good value for money. You're out there for the whole day, you get 2 water taxi rides, 1 or 2 awesome, professional and safety concious guides (depending on group size), a delicious lunch and snacks throughout the day.. epic, I couldn't rate it enough!

Before going on this trip I hadn't even heard of canyoning before but being a fairly outdoorsy person the idea of abseiling, zip lining and jumping off a couple of waterfalls sounded great.
The trip into Torrent river was incredible and a great way to see part of the Abel Tasman that not many people get a chance to explore. The small group really bonded as we cheered each other on over each obstacle and feature of the canyon and our knowledgable and safety conscious guides were full of energy and support throughout the day.
A few months after Torrent river I was lucky enough to join a trip into the other canyon the company operates, Waterfall creek. The day is quite a bit longer as you venture into an even less travel area of the Abel Tasman but it is well worth the drive and hike in as you are faced with some big abseils and features on this trip. One of the last features of the canyon is an 18m high, near vertical rock slide which our guides had pre warned everyone about and we were all excited and a little nervous. One of the best things about these trips is that you have an option to go around certain features if you're not feeling confident about certain parts of the canyon but our group all managed to get down the epic slide and celebrated at the end with our guides before heading home.
All in all these canyoning trips are a great experience that will be something completely new and exciting for most people. The guides are some of the most fun yet safety conscious I've ever met and really make the day special. If you want to see Abel Tasman in a new way, do something different and have a an awesome day then these guys are really gonna sort you out!

I had never even heard of canyoning before this excursion.
What a great experience to be able to access areas which you would never be able to otherwise. Going down the Torrent River through the canyon was exhilarating and the scenery spectacular. Our trip in NZ was great, but this canyoning trip with Abel Tasman Canyons was really the cherry on the cake.
The whole trip; water taxi, walk to canyon, canyoning etc is absolutely amazing and something you'll remember the rest of your life.

Kayaking is our first passion, so when I told our kayak club members we were incorporating some Canyoning in to our 10 day kayaking trip around Nelson, it took some convincing.
For most it was their first experience of Canyoning and the thought of sliding, abseiling, jumping and zip lining down a freezing cold river was a challenge 10 of us were keen to experience.
Firstly, we must say how impressed we were with the professionalism, safety and humour on the day, of all their team on and off the water.
Secondly, we were all treated as equals no matter whether male or female, young or maturer. We all achieved what we wanted out of the day.
Thirdly, the free photos were just awesome and meant one less thing for us to worry about.
Fourthly, we all agreed it was excellent value for money.
All in all, we would all highly recommend Abel Tasman Canyons and hope to return in a year or so with another group to give them the same opportunity to experience this epic adventure!

We did the Waterfall Creek trip and it was hard work but incredible, would definitely do it again given the chance! Our guides Lee and Tim were tops as well - couldn't recommend them or Abel Tasman Canyons highly enough. A must do when you're in the region! Thanks guys 👍

Canyoning with Abel Tasman Canyoning was the best of our experiences in NZ (we tried skydiving at wanaka and dolphin watching at Kaikoura as well, among others).
Right from the start, the guides (Lana and Tim) were really friendly, in particularly Lana, who was unbelievably spirited and chirpy. They said they would try to make this one of the top 3 experiences in NZ, and I would say it was the best. I had a really wonderful time in the canyon, it was a full day programme which was worth every bit of the money spent (skydiving for instance was over too quickly for me). We abseiled, zip-lined, jumped and slid in the canyon, whenever I thought it was over, there would be more. The guides brought juice, lunch and snacks to quell any hungry tummies, and the group size was just nice (about 10 of us?).
And the best part? They take many photos of you, all for FREE. I was pleasantly surprised that the canyoning team is really out to deliver a memorable experience that isn't too commercialised. It was a warm, cosy, and fun experience that I highly recommend.

Awesome full day experience with exceptionally knowledgeable and caring guide.
All the equipment supplied was of great quality, so even in early November we were toasty warm. If you're up for a challenge and like going into the unknown I would highly recommend this experience. Worth every $$$!
