    THE SMELL!

Great free alternative in Rota, the park is named after the lake which in one's opinion is fantastic. Parks off Ranolf street near a rocky mound, walk north to lake boardwalk. Best enjoyed on chilly morning when steam is high.

Some parts were closed due to maintenance.

The rest of the park was nice to walk in. The hot (foot) pools were also closed.

Nice park in the middle of town.

It is cool to see everywhere the geothermal activities. And the park is well done.

First impression was like it was very smelly, but was nice to see.

After 4 pits it all looked the same to me.

A free park to see some geothermal action.

Forget the smell and see the mud and the water.

They stink but they look really cool also.

Makes you realise that underneath these concrete jungles, the earth is busy bubbling away underneath.

The park is located in walking distance to the city.

It shows a bit of Rotorua thermal activity, but nothing compared to any of the paid thermal parks. It is still interesting and free, so worth a visit.

We went on Saturday and enjoyed the food at the market, the playground, the many geothermal features and brief soaks in the hot foot pools.

Wear shorts and slippers if you intend to try out the pools!

Lots of examples of thermal activity throughout large park.

Worth a visit if more commercial geothermal areas considered too expensive.
