Urupukapuka Bay Campsite
Set in stunning coastal surrounds, this is a great place for families to relax on the beach, swim, kayak, fish or explore the nearby walking tracks.
This is one of the three campsites on Urupukapuka Island. This island has significant historical and cultural importance, with well-preserved archaeological remnants of early Maori settlement. Please help keep this island pest free, check your tent, boat and pack rat-free and shoes clear of weed seeds.
The other two campsites; Sunset Bay and Cable Bay are also accessed at the Otehei Bay Wharf and are a mere 30mins walk away.
Campsite bookings are required all year.

DOC Standard Campsite
Standard campsites have a more limited range of facilities and services than Serviced campsites. These campsites have toilets, a water supply that could be treated or untreated tap water, or from a stream or lake, and vehicle or boat access. Bring your own soap for washing hands. Untreated water should be boiled before use to ensure it's safe. Wood BBQs and fireplaces, cold showers, picnic tables, a cooking shelter and rubbish bins may be provided; this will vary from site to site.

A beautiful campsite not far from the ferry wharf.
Nature there is beautiful but there are a lot of sheep and the ground looks accordingly, not really much of a problem. The tracks are stunning especially the ones where you can see the cliffs and paradise bay. Make sure the weather is good otherwise the ferrys might not operate.

Absolutely stunning campground a short 15 min walk over the hill from the ferry wharf.
Water but must be boiled before drinking. Cafe beside wharf has water during open hours. (Closes 8pm).
Great snorkelling off the beach, we saw squid and octopus. Amazing walks and good bird life on the island. Lots of sheep around the campsite. Cold outdoor showers. Poor cell reception from campground. Not too busy start of Feb on a weekend.

Our favourite accommodation, quiet places, cheap, clean, amazing landscapes!
Rangers are so friendly! And always toilet paper in restrooms! Sometimes we had hot showers for 50cents, it is good to ask donations and sometimes it is free!

Small island, with few people but a lot of sheep and a lot of trails who make you discover all the island.
Really nice lookout, beaches and walks!
