Such a beautiful DOC campsite that allows dogs.
Right on the shores of lake Wanaka - a place to take a refreshing dip as there are no showers. Well maintained and of course, worth the $8pp! You do need to book lines before hand though as there isn’t any phone signal out there.

Amazing spot, plenty of places to camp with vans or tents!
Toilets are good, nice cooking and washing facilities. Epic info on the history of the spot too! $8 pp per night. Gorgeous views of the lake and snow capped mountains! Last spot with sandflies if you are heading back east!

We just stopped for 1 night and it rained the whole time so we didn’t really explore.
Ok toilets and a cooking shelter. Right by the lake so I imagine in nice weather it would be lovely. Sandflys as ever!

Nice camp site with very pretty views of the lake.
The sand flies are in abundance here so best staying in your camper for early morning/evening to avoid getting bitten! Toilets are basic but clean and a covered cooking shelter has a running tap. For those interested this site has no phone signal. A&E

This is a stunning campground on the shores of Lake Wanaka, with a pebbly beach full of driftwood.
Basic toilet facilities. Its a very picturesque campground, DOC managed, cost about $8 per person per night. One of our favorite campsites in all the South Island.

Great views and some cool spots tucked away for campervans and tents.
Toilet facilities, sink, and sheltered area to cook. Windy at night but that kept the bugs away, we had a ton in the morning as soon as we left a door open. Gets crowded at night but stays very quiet. Great sunset and sunrise views.

Great site, plenty of room for tents.
Beach close by and view is brilliant. Basic but clean toilet facilities. Also has a sheltered area for food prep and a sink area to wash up. Next to road for accessibility. Would recommend this campsite.

Had a great dip in the super cold lake.
Very rocky beach.
Beautiful view of mountains.
Was very full but quiet.
Flush toilets and dish cleaning area.
Totally fine for a nights stay.
The camp attendant was a sweetie with a sense of humour.
I am a foot shorter due to the sandflies.

Really nice campsite, best view on Wanaka lake, quiet and wild.
The toilets are ok but the only sink is really small and no so practical. Be aware of the sandflies ! Ho, and the sunset is gorgeous !

The campsite is located on a small peninsula in lake Wanaka.
It has lots of niches to put your camper in and nice clean toilets. There is a small shelter for cooking.
Be prepared for lots of wind. Good side of that: no Sandflys!
All in all one of my favourite places so far.

Can be windy, but there's some spots behind bushes that shelter you from it.

Beautiful view of Lake Wanaka to camp for a night after a long drive from Franz Josef glacier towards Queenstown.
Toilets are so clean and nice smelling. Gets crowded towards the night, so do come early but plenty of space for everyone, tents & motorhomes, campervans. Open kitchen with little sink and running water is available. Quiet and lovely place to camp but do come prepared with mozzy-guard to repel away sandflies-which is a nuisance.

Good spot to spend the night while driving to West Coast.
No mobile coverage. A lot of space. Closer to the main road. $8 pp, but no box to put money in and no one came to collect money in the morning. We came around 10pm and left early 7am

We camped here after passing through several others on the road because this was be far prettier.
We parked our campervan right towards the edge of the water so it’s pretty windy. The upside of that was it kept the sand flies away!! Only two toilets so there was a line in the morning. Sunset view over the lake was very beautiful.

Nice, busy, site next to the lake, good facilities for a DOC conservation campsite (shelter, washing up sink, toilets).
However a huge no. of mosquitos at the time of our stay keep it's rating down.

Quite a few people spent the night on Jan 27th.
Many tenters. But not noisy, everyone was very respectful and quiet. Water was VERY cold :). Very beautiful views. If you have time continue down to next DOC campsite towards Haast. It’s much better. Bathroom is flush toilet and clean. Good place to stop for a night to get some rest.

Nice DOC campsite next to the Lake and main road.
Few sites available but apparently a number of cars stayed over at the parking lot. We have not seen the DOC ranger for checking the payments.

Very pretty, especially during sunset.
Make sure you arrive early since only a few spots have the good view. Clean flush toilets, and can go swimming in lake (cold though).

Lovely tree lined sites along the lakeshore, adjacent to Boundary Creek.
We and others sheltered here during a stormy night in September. Many sites tucked in amongst trees and bushes provided some protection from the wind. Access for large motorhome no problem. Two flushing toilets were clean, had paper and soap. There's a kitchen shelter and several picnic tables. There's no doubt this would be devine with good weather.
