A large, flat, sheltered camping area that makes a great base for exploring Tennyson Inlet and the nearby area by boat, on foot or by mountain bike.

A large, flat, sheltered camping area which makes a great base for exploring the Tennyson Inlet and the nearby area by boat, foot or by mountain bike. The start of the Nydia Track is only 3 km away in Duncan Bay. There are boat launching ramps and picnic areas in Duncan and Penzance Bays.

Beautiful, scenic location.
We were the only people there. No drinking water but the toilets are fine. It’s a shame there’s such a steep drive up and over the saddle to get to the site but it is a lovely place to start the day. Watch out as the left turning into the campsite sneaks up on you as you finish coming down the hill. The weka are also very bold and will steal food and flip flops.

Brilliant spot if you want quiet & simple.
Many good spots to tuck into or hide away. Pleasant little stream running by too. DOC ranger is onto it so make sure you've paid! Only downside is the beast of a drive into the inlet and back out.Big bus or big campers might think twice - very steep & windy road although it is sealed.

A very pleasant camp surrounded by native bush and heaps of bird life.
We stayed here 2 days entertained by wood pigeons and weka. Super quiet apart from the owls (moreporks) calling at night. It's right off the beaten track and you need to be totally self-sufficient if you come here. The nearest shops, fuel, etc., are right back at the Rai Valley village. A major plus is a sealed road all the way from the state highway.
