    Really enjoyed our stay here.

The owner makes an effort to ensure you're happy with your pitch. Unpowered sites are more spacious than most of the powered. The showers, although no fancy tiles, were spotlessly clean and from a practical point of view ( keeping your clothes dry, giving enough space, somewhere to leave your soap, a floor mat and a stool) were probably the best I've come across in my three weeks travelling NZ. The location is perfect with regard to visiting the town and watching the penguins come ashore. I would advise booking ahead for the penguin colony, as we were unable to get tickets. The crowds of people along the harbour must be disruptive for the penguins

    Lovely little site.

Zena was very friendly and welcoming. Nice clean toilet and cooking facilities. Great location, walkable to town and to see the nearby penguin colony.

The most important thing about this campsite is the opportunity to see the blue pinguins at night.

We paid 50 NZD for 2 people on a non-powered campervan spot. There are hot showers, kitchen, and wi-fi. The pinguins went out of the sea in front of the camp, next to the fishing boats. Later, they even came inside. There is also a nice park near the river, and it's easy to reach the town center by foot

Lovely little site on Oamaru Harbour.

Spotless facilities thanks to Zena, who was also friendly welcoming and informative. Oamaru is a lively town and the blue penguins are marvellous.

Both the best and worst place to be if you adore penguins!

The penguins nest in the campsite so if you're sat on the deck quietly just after dark they will go about their business around you quite happily, it's pretty magical! However, there is a huge lack of signage and education for patrons of the campsite, folks were walking right up the the penguins trying to get photos and videos, shining torches into penguin nests and so on. Pretty hard to watch when you know the possible consequences on the birds. A little more effort from the hosts to educate around this would have made it far nicer both for us, but also for the penguins!

We picked this side because of its location close to the penguin colony.

We did know that there was no wifi, still all the digital contact going through Top10 Holiday Parks we expected a bit more than this campsite could deliver. They haven’t recover from the pandemic yet.

Checking in is very easy, trying to make a reservation is a bit harder. After making one and arriving at the campsite it was very clear to us which spot was ours. There is only someone at the reception an hour in the morning and one hour in the late afternoon.

It’s a clean campsite, with clean and working faculties. The water pressure is poor, the temperature of the water nice. Washer and dryer work very well! This campsite is an upgraded parking lot. We did see that they miss the funds to spruce things up. The lady who was at the reception is friendly and could explain quite some things to us. Overall, the $ 57 NZ is too much for a powered gravel site.

Location is good, was easy to get the penguin colony and walking into town.

Arrived here late at night after completing the A2O.

Could only see campervans and worried that cyclists with tents weren't actually welcome. The site map was confusing, some better indication of where tents should be pitched would have been helpful - and that the site is both campervan and bike friendly (which it is). Super friendly chap on reception when I paid at 8:30 the next morning. $35 is relatively expensive for a tent site but the facilities are good and it's a stress-free solution to finding a place to stay when you are not sure when you'll arrive!

Great location but $37 for a solo traveller in a tent!

Very expensive, better to get into a hostel in town.

Choose this site if planning on viewing the penguins, otherwise I’d go elsewhere.

In motorhome we’re quite tight pitches and outlook even on front plots not fantastic as cars can block view.

Kitchen, bathroom and shower facilities were excellent.

Clean and well maintained. Parking bays also well maintained, and you can book ahead to reserve a spot. No problem with walk-ins either, the only drawback is the limited office hours if you need to pay with a card.

Penguins appear at night, and it's only a short walk to the colony or to the Oamaru main street.

Lovely, welcoming and would stay again.
