Mohi Bush is considered the best reserve on the Maraetotara Plateau for people to explore.

Keep watch for the tiny rifleman, New Zealand’s smallest bird. This is one of the few places the bird is found outside of the forest parks in Hawke’s Bay.

Three non flushing toilets absolutely filled with poo.
Despite this the campground is quite, and beautiful. Bring a shovel to dig your poo holes

Nice and flat with great views out over farmland.
Fairly good wind protection. There are bathrooms a short walk from the park up spot but looked like cows use them more people. Small but incredibly beautiful forest with short and easy walks. Highly recommend this spot over Maraetotara Falls.

We were intending on stopping at Maraetotara falls for the night, but this site is literally a very small area on side of road.
The falls are well worth a stop but keep going and head for Mohi Bush for a taste of wild camping. The site is off the road, across a cattle grid and up a grass driveway. We were the only ones staying (Saturday, Feb) so very peaceful, just cows, rabbits and birds. (The birdsong in the morning is amazing) there are toilets, not the cleanest but you need to be self contained so it shouldn't matter.

There are a couple of well signposted walks ranging from 30 minutes up to 90 minutes. Highly recommend for peace and quiet in a non lay-by/car park environment.

Great quiet spot.
Turned up just before dark and crashed out. Woke up to awesome sunrise and native birds going crazy. Has 3 flushing toilets a short walk away, hand basin with running water, & even liquid soap! Took kids for short half hour bush walk. Really enjoyed our peaceful stay.
