Ziptrek Ecotours

The best framed views of Lake Wakatipu can be experienced on an interpretive guided tour using flying foxes as low impact adventure access. Join us on a series of lines that traverse the forest in a way that will never be forgotten.

The latest thrill-seeking activity to hit Queenstown, Ziptrek Ecotours is a spectacular and exhilarating flying fox eco-adventure through the forest canopy, situated on Skyline Gondola hill.

Harness up and feel the wind in your face as you “Zziippp” down breath-taking flying foxes which traverse down the mountain tree to tree. Their experienced guides launch and receive you at each tree deck, so you are able to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Gaze at the spectacular views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkable mountain range as the guides deliver light-hearted but interesting details on local history, myths, legends and ecological principals at each suspended tree-house.

Ziptrek Ecotours runs all year round and is stunning whatever the weather. With two tours to choose from it is suitable for everyone, whether looking for an introduction into Queenstown adventure or wanting the latest gripping eco-exhilaration, featuring the steepest tree to tree flying fox in the world.

Moa 4-Line Tour: The perfect starter to your adventure experience in Queenstown. The Moa comprises four flying foxes, starting and finishing at the top of Skyline Gondola. Moa is designed to start low and slow and gradually build your confidence as it gets progressively longer, higher and faster. All ages love the interaction this guided aerial tour has to offer. Also ask about our Twilight Tours!

Kea 6-Line Tour: Faster, longer and finishing with a flying fox ride that descends 30 storeys at speeds of up to 70kph, the Kea tour is a unique way to get down the mountain. This stunningly beautiful guided journey through ancient native beech forest comprises six breathtaking, tree to tree ziplines with outstanding alpine vistas; returning you to the bottom of gondola hill on a total high.

Great for families and those who do not want something as extreme as a bungy.

The 6-line tour is much fun.

A nice experience and you get the steepest zip-line in the world!! It is a little bit expensive but that is Queenstown.

signed up for the 6lines zipline.

it was fun and definitely worth the money. however, it was quite a disappointment on the last zipline (claimed to be the steepest zipline), maybe because it was not to our expectation, thrill and exciting.

Staff was great, zip lines were heaps of fun.

The reason I am only giving this 5 stars is because of the price.

139 dollars for 4 zip lines which took us an hour in total and maybe a minute in total on all ziplines is not a good value.

$179 for 2 hours entertainment, but fun and they tell a lot of things about nature and Lake Wakatipu.

With that money you do charity as well for Kiva.

    A great experience!

You start this tour with a gondola ride up the mountain (included in the package) which you will then zip line to the bottom.

Our guides, TJ and Hailey looked after us really well and they both explained each stage of the zip line and in some instances also demonstrated. You get to hang upside down, on your back, sideways, whatever you can think of!

For this tour, you are coming down the mountain in shade, this can be a bit chilly, so would recommend warm clothes but not baggy, they need to harness you! You can take a camera or video as they'll tie this to your harness to ensure you don't lose it.

Be prepared for a steep walk to Zipline 6, it takes about 20mins but you can go at your own pace. Jelly legs for some.

    Only negative comments:

    A) Unfortunately if you've paid for this tour down-town, there is no pre-paid line at the Gondola for you to enter and therefore if there is a long line you may miss your start time for the zip-line (but at least they know you're coming and make provision for this).

    B) Difficult to find: as Zip-trek Tours are a separate entity to Skyline (Gondola) we were told that they could not change their signage! COME ON SKYLINE, let all businesses have success!

This was one of the best experiences ever.

It wasnt even the ziptrek itself that made it but the guides. Brett and Rob in Queenstown were sooo funny. They even got all 8 ppl on the tour interacting and we even swapped emails after so we could send photos. The Irish girl (i hope i got that right lol) who works there was really nice n cheerful. The tour was extreme - hanging upside down - totally wicked. Such an amazing view of Queenstown. But OMG! that hike back to the top - what a killer lol but totally worth it

After completing the Milford Track, this was a great way to close out our trip.

Excellent guides, very knowledgable & fun. Perhaps the "Eco" portion will need to be shortened as you get busier. We felt very safe and will definitely repeat on next trip to Queenstown. No negative feedback! It's a winner.

I recently did Ziptrek and enjoyed my experience.

The zipling itself is good fun and the guides are enthusiastic. I do feel however the eco talk in between the ziplines is a figure overload. The tour still has a few kinks to iron out, but overall the concept and activity is a great idea.

Solid guides, incredible views and really cool tree architecture. I went with my wife and two teenage kids and everyone in the family had a blast. We enjoyed the flying foxes and also the talk about the forest and Queenstown. Highly recommended and a great new family friendly tour.
