Time: 2 hr - 2 hr 30 min

This walk links up and meanders along an old tramline. There is a shorter version of this walk takes to the turn off to Picnic Point where you reach a small pebbly beach at the edge of the lake and takes about 15 minutes from the main track. Picnic Point and return to the carpark is about one hour and is a popular walk for those not wanting to go along the whole walkway.

The rest of the walk continues along board walks and over fragile swampland that is often flooded and eventually pops out on SH6 just north of Mananui bush.

From DOC campsite, 3 trails can be run.
No loop possible, good for 30 minute run all together.
