We tried to stay a night but it was jam packed with hundreds of students having rowing races over the weekend.

Apparently it is quite common to have events here, so have a backup plan in case. Can't comment on the facilities as we didn't stay the night, the lake is stunning though

We have been camping around NZ for 1mth (summer Dec-Jan) , have camped at a number of river locations, but the insects we see at this place is just horrendous!

After dark we had to figure out some strategies to get in and out of the kitchen door, and in/out our camper door….. outside the kitchen door they forms a black tornado under the fluorescent light that you’ll have to run into, while holding the breath ...

The kitchen is clean but really basic, the insect tends to stick onto anything that is wet

Also note there’s:

- No pots, plates, dish washing liquids, sponge, hand washing liquid, need to byo

- only one dining table in kitchen

- Fridge is missing a handle..

- stove is basic and has no numbers on it to tell you what level of heat it’s at

- No lid to the internal rubbish bin, we found it a bit gross to eat while sitting close to it. But there aren’t many tables available.

- No insect screen installed so better finish using kitchen before it gets dark

- No hair dryer

- Hot water is good and stable, no timer (great) but the light automatically turns off after a while

It’s a good location but thinking of the fee paid should be able to support some upgrade

Excellent facilities, super friendly and helpful staff, great play areas for the kids.

Will definitely be our regular stop over.

Paid just one time otherwise it would have been too expensive.

Toilets, showers, etc everything you need but without power station.
