    The worst shuttle experience.

    Was left behind 3 times at the airport making me wait a whole hour and had to wait outside in the cold. The app didn’t work either and when I told the staff instore she said “oh yeah it doesn’t work”

    Instore I waited an additional hour because only 2 staff looked after 3 van loads of people and they had technical difficulties.

    Won’t book with Ace ever again

    Run from Australia, outrageously overpriced, will not provide a tax invoice when payment is taken (dodgy!), just a no all around.

    Also, why don't bad reviews show up on their google reviews?? WTF google??

    THEY ARE SHIT..

    dont have offices, nor a contact centre, the invoicing process was super doggy, our booking said 886, theu guy at hertz counter said i needed to pay 200bond that would be given back to us once the rentaol is finished. it didnt happen, ACE RENTALS took my 200nzd and keep them, saying that the total ammount of the rental was 1.086.

    diggy as.. i would NOT recommend to rent a car with them

    I picked up my rental car early and found the staff were very accommodating.

    The vehicle was well maintained despite being an older model, it ran well and was economical. No worries at all with the engine power even on some very steep roads. The car had a few minor dents and scratches but these were noted by the staff and photos had been taken. Returned the car with no drama at all and got a lift to the International Airport straight away. I totally recommend Ace to anyone and will use them again next time I travel in New Zealand.

    Best car rental company for Auckland airport.

    We have researched extensively and hired from several competitivly priced companies in the past few weeks. ACE was best for its price, very fast pickups and dropoffs from its nearby location (that one could probably walk to even if you dont have luggage) The staff were all very friendly. Car was clean and ready to go. Best rate for small vehicle including full insurance. Will definitely be using them again.

    Auckland airport pickup, they arrived 20 minutes after we called, got a free upgrade at the depot, car is well maintained and nearly dent free, drop off was without hassle.

    Very cheap daily rate for older car with higher kilometres.

    Car was quite satisfactory for the price.

    Needed two baby anchors which I requested and they provided without any issues.

    Accidentally left my mobile in the car when returning to Auckland airport. Realised after we'd already cleared customs and couldn't get back out. I called them and they found it and sent someone to pass it on to customs so they could bring it through before we got on our flight - this was very nice of them to do at no hesitation.

    If I could rate ACE zero, I would.

    Hired a car with them to explore the South Island, and was enjoying my trip so asked to extend it twice. They agreed to extend my existing agreement - and then I noticed a large sum of money taken from my account. They started a new agreement instead of extending my previous one as they had agreed, and charged me the maximum possible for the rental, without telling me. I consider this to be fraud. The car was old and battered, fine for the initial price but definitely not for the increased price. I have contacted them politely numerous times but they have ignored my emails. I am now having to try to reclaim the money through my credit card. Please save yourself a headache and don’t use this company!

    Appaling bad.

    Don't use. Old unreliable cars. Poor customer service. Took $750 bond despite paying full insurance. Charged $220 for $50 fuel top up. Won't do vehicle condition check with client avoid at all costs

    We have used this company on several previous occasions and until this year all had gone well.

    However this year our experience was very different. Despite having booked a 0 - 3 years vehicle for a 5 week rental period the car we were given at Auckland airport was in poor condition with 160000 km on the clock. As no suitable alternative vehicle was available we reluctantly had to take it. Within 24 hours the car had broken down with a fault which the roadside repair guy said was potentially dangerous and should have been detected in the pre release check. We then had to wait 48 hours for a replacement vehicle to be supplied and had lots of communication difficulties. We subsequently sent several emails to Ace requesting compensation for the period we were without a vehicle but to date have not received a response. We shall not therefore be using this company again.

    Would not recommend cars are old and scruffy ours had done nearly 200000 km and it stunk like homeless people had been living in it ( had to buy an air freshener) and they gave us a GPS that didn’t hold

    its charge had to use phone instead very unprofessional and Auckland staff very unfriendly find a better option it would be worth the extra money

    I was going to do a relocation of an Ace rental car and it did not work because the staff said my credit card is not a credit card!

    Staff was really rude, unwilling to find a solution. My card has been accepted in many rental companies with no issue. I found the staff was challenging the nature of my credit card to impose their insurance policies on me, when I had already purchased insurance with a specialized company. An extremely bad customer experience with Ace rentals. And a very poor conversation on what a credit card is, with a stubborn person not willing to check any information.

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - After calling all 3 phone numbers on the confirmation sheet we had to call Auckland head office to get someone to pick us up.

    More than 35 minutes later someone arrived who had no customer service skills stating "we were on the phone". No apology. Nothing. The office is a shabby and untidy shed. Our vehicle was dirty, covered in cobwebs, had seat knobs missing (you couldn't adjust the passenger seat back), key remote didn't work and the key itself was very loose in its holder. The car sounded like it needed a new gearbox. Overall the experience was abysmal. Next time I'll use GO Rentals again, they cost a bit more but the service is slick and professional and the vehicles top knotch.

    Booked Ace Rental Cars through rentalcars.com as we have used them in Christchurch with no problem.

    We were left waiting at the airport for 40 minutes, we phoned several times (there’s also a technical issue with the phone system as we were cut off constantly) and kept being told the shuttle shouldn’t be too long because they’re very busy. When we were finally collected, no apology and arrived at the office to find two other shuttles not being used. The staff were overwhelmed and clearly the process is poorly managed. The car’s front bumper was damaged and overall the condition was poor and the car was old and in need of updating. We have used many other rental companies and always found a fast and efficient service with modern and well serviced stock, even when choosing low price. It is highly recommended to stay clear of this company when choosing a good value option.

    We booked a number of rentals with Ace through Rentalcars.com for our three month stay in New Zealand.

    The first we were given was a very tired Nissan with well over 100,000 on the clock and smell to match. The second was supposed to be a Toyota with capacity for two suitcases but turned out to be a tired Mazda with boot space for only 1 suitcase !! There was no choice apparently. On the second day of the rental the central locking froze and we were unable to use the car until someone passing suggested we put the remote in the sun for a few minutes - hey presto it worked - but a few days later the car again locked us out. We called Ace who put us onto the AA and when the mechanic turned up he diagnosed a faulty remote control and showed us how to override the remote.

    We lost a lot of time over these delays and the absence of the offer of a replacement car so we cancelled all of the future bookings with Ace Car Rental.

    They should be called “Rent a Wreck” for the knackered cars they push out to unwitting customers.

    I would NEVER rent from Ace EVER again !!

    The staff are lovely but their cars are total crap.

    Unfriendly staff, mostly old and dirty cars.

    WELLINGTON AIRPORT - NOT RECOMMENDED

    I booked a 2017 guaranteed premium intermediate and I was given a premium compact with no discounts. After I protested they firstly offered a standard intermediate 6 years old (refused) and then a new SUV. When I accepted the new SUV, they finally switched to an old SUV with 200k km. Awful experience, not recommended.

    Booked a 1yr old Hyundai Elantra for pickup at Queenstown to drive around NZ roads and instead was downgraded to a 5 year old Camry with high mileage and worn down tyres.

    Was told that both cars were in the same category even thought on the website the rate for the car booked was higher then the one given.and that's the only car available is the old Camry. I had to take what is available but was nervous driving around NZ roads with worn out tyres.

    Later when complained to the head office, I was told a mistake was made and refunded me back the difference.

    If you book a car at Ace Rentals, don't bother choosing the type of vehicle, they'll just give you whatever...

    At Ace, we ensure that all vehicle tyres have a minimum tread depth of 3mm, at which time they are replaced. This is far above the minimum road-worthy tyre tread depth in NZ which is currently at 1.5mm.
