Great tour, interesting history.
Guide was very engaging and helpful. Great way to see Waiheke Island and makes getting to and from the wineries and the ferry very easy.

A memorable day that was a highlight of our visit to Auckland.
It was so good to have a nice boat trip and a great guide to give us all the information while we climbed the volcano. The best part was there were no souvenir shops on the island hawking worthless trinkets.

Good day trip opportunity in Auckland but a bit pricey and the last ferry boat could be later.

For $28 you get a ferry to the very nice island Rangitoto.
It was a nice trip with a very awesome view (260 degree) around Auckland.

Walked main path to summit, picnic and views, circled crater then descended.
An info board at the top about what you can see would be great, though we had locals with us to tell us. Route via Lava caves to base was misleading-had to retrace.

Part of my history is the French system of rating, in which a "10" was reserved for God, a "9" for the professor, and "8's" and below for mere morals.
On that scale, both the Explore and Wine tours earned an 8+. The tour guide/drivers were local and knowledgeable. I linked the two tours for a delightful day.

We did the Waiheke Island guided bus tour.
The actual bus tour was 1 1/2 hours and it was very informative. The bus driver was very friendly. The only negative is that we didn't have a chance to hop out of the bus to take photos of the amazing views throughout the tour: we were expected to take them out of the windows of the bus (which were too wet to take decent photos). It was great that we could use the buses and explore the Island after the tour.

After the tour you could spend as much time at the island, as you wanted. Busses on the island were free.
