Sea Kayaking Abel Tasman National Park
Over 50 kilometres of coastline offers dozens of golden sand beaches to visit, while the many coves and lagoons provide plenty of interesting nooks and crannies to explore. Sea kayaking here also opens up a world of sea and bird life encounters with animals such as penguins, seals and dolphins. So all in all, you've got to say, it's really not a bad spot!
We offer kayak rentals straight off of Kaiteriteri Beach, half day, full day and multi-day guided kayak trips.

Our kayak tour as a group was awesome.
The young guide introduced very honest about his fast changing plans within the tour and he was very knowledged. His experience about kayaking and wildlife was a big benefite he got from his kayaking family.
Thanks a lot

Incredible experience !
Thanks to Sharon, our guide. She made our day a magical one thanks to her personality: simple, funny and real ! For the first time on my travel I haven’t been treated as a tourist but like a friend ! She is extraordinary !

We did the "heart of the park"-tour and everything was perfect!
You get to cruise along the shores, to have a beautiful little walk and an amazing kayak experience. So you basically get to discover the Abel Tasman in three different ways. Our guides Aaron and Sharon were very knowledgeable and super friendly. Food was good, too. We just loved it!

I did three tours in three days, Split Apple Classic for a warm up, Heart of the Park with a walking part and Astrolable Explorer.
With just one word: Wow
All tours were with different guides, but they were all amazing. I enjoyed every second of the tours. In the end, because of me doing three tours, I was presented even with a T-Shirt from their company for free. I can highly recommend them, if you are in the area. You come as close as possible to the marine life, without disturbing them.

If you have a young family and not up to a half/full day kayak trip then just rock up to Kaiteriteri Kayaks and book a freedom kayak for 30 minutes or 1 hour and the whole family can take turns kayaking
around the bay.

Nice to be kayaking on the blue waters of the Abel Tasman.
Stunning landscapes. Nice service. We paid for 4 hours of kayaking but actually it was only 3 hours 20 minutes on the water because of the safety explanation. I think they should mention that clearly, which they did not.

We purchased the beaches and seals day trip through GrabOne and had a great day.
The kayaking was brilliant, our guide was brilliant, friendly and professional.
We had a safety lesson before starting which was good as the water was quite rough. Kayaking was still fun, just required more energy! We only paddled as far as Split Apple Rock - this was enough for us given the rough sea but if it was calm, we would have preferred a bit more kayaking.
We returned to Kaiteriteri beach for lunch and then boarded a water taxi to start the second half of the tour. This is the part which could have been improved but I will review the water taxi company separately.
Overall a great experience and I would recommend Kaiteriteri Kayaks.

Didn't let us paddle due to strong wind. We hired kayaks the next day. You can only get to Split Apple rock though. 3 hours is way enough for rental. Quite long safety briefing, but still 10/10. Best place for kayaking.

Great family morning - 2 adults and 2 kids (8 and 12) kayaking around to Split Apple Rock.
We stopped on the beach for refreshments and went exploring the beach caves. Some leading to others which the kids thought was great.
Trip was about 2.5 hours long. Double kayaks so no trouble when the kids got tired of paddling.
Our Guide Perrin was tops. She had good knowledge of the area and really knew how to encourage the younger crew (8-14yrs) with paddling and the older crew to try the cave challenge :).
Kaiteriteri is a great spot to chill out after trip with yummy coffee or milkshake on the beach!

We did the two day Royale with Cheese.
1 day walk and 1 day kayak and 1 night in a hut (DOC). Trip was quite expensive $225, when there does not seem that many costs involved. The scenery and wildlife was wonderful.

Abel Tasman NP has a breathtaking mix of rainforest and beach scenery, and while walking the Coastal Track is amazing it's even better to be able to explore the beaches, coves and tidal lagoons and see
some of the local wildlife up close, by kayak.
We booked a One Day Seals & Remote Coast tour which included water taxi into the National Park, paddling instruction and tour, morning tea & lunch, and a friendly knowledgeable guide.
Our trip took in Bark Bay, Tonga Island Marine Reserve, Mosquito Beach, Onetahuti Beach, Tonga Arches, local seal colonies and Shag Harbour - all stunning!
By day's end my shoulders, elbows and wrists hurt, I could barely lift my arms over my head, and I had a slight sunburn...but I’m still dreaming of when I'll be back in Abel Tasman.
TIP: Paddle with your core, not your arms!
