We are on Google Maps as Sunset Ridge, feel free to check there to see more details and photos/reviews
You're welcome to stay here whether you are self contained or not, we have a portaloo so we can also accommodate people staying in tents and non self-contained vehicles.
We also added a filtered drinking water tap and cold outdoor shower so you can put your togs on and cool off this summer!
Our place is a great location for a few guests. You will be parking on an old horse arena, which has fairly good drainage even with rain. That's the advantage of being on a ridge. It can be windy at times, but we don't get flooded!
We have a simple spot to park on a lifestyle property near to the Helensville township, overlooking a valley. We get quite a few beautiful sunsets here. It's nice and dark at night so if it's clear, you get a great view of the stars. Plus it's pretty quiet!
We have a small flock of sheep (which are roaming around keeping our lawns short - please shut the gate behind you as they love to run out on the road and we would be very sad to lose our pet lawnmowers!). Some of them may even let you give her a pat on the head if you are lucky, but please don't chase the sheep! We have hens roaming around and may have other small animals that you can meet. We also have hand raised mallard ducks around, so they bring their babies back in the spring.
You'll love staying here because it's a great location, 5 minutes drive from Helensville where there are multiple places to eat, great op shops for the thrift hunters and hot pools for fun and relaxation. There's also a good laundromat on the main road through Helensville if you have laundry needs.
Unfortunately the nearest public dump stations are at Albany and Henderson.
If you love the forest, then Riverhead forest has some amazing tracks to explore on foot, bike or horseback.
Muruwai beach is not too far away if you want to visit a beach, and there is an amazing lake not quite so close by if you take a drive up South Head.
Pets aren't allowed as a rule, however if you have a very quiet pet we don't mind if you ask beforehand. We don't want barking dogs to annoy other campers or ourselves! And definitely no animals that would chase sheep, cats, chickens, guinea pigs or rabbits.
We are working on converting a bus into a motorhome ourselves, which is also parked on the side of the arena, so from time to time I make a bit of noise cutting some wood or sanding, but we are nearing completion now so mostly our work is fairly quiet and noisy work is infrequent.
We have a handful of parks available, so if you have friends who you want to camp with, this could be an ideal spot for you.
We only have the ability to offer one powered spot currently, so call ahead to prebook it. The best way to contact us is by phone.
We look forward to meeting you! We are on Google Maps as Sunset Ridge, feel free to check there to see more details and photos/reviews
