An amazing up close encounter with New Zealand’s largest glacier, the Tasman Glacier.
Take the bus from outside The Hermitage Hotel to the beautiful Tasman Valley where your guide will lead you on a gentle half hour stroll to the Tasman Glacier Terminal Lake. Here you will board a boat to explore the fascinating glacial landscape dotted with icebergs and the ever-changing ice face of the glacier. The boat passes so close to the icebergs you can touch them! Commentary from our guides imparts their knowledge and passion for this amazing alpine environment.
This trip provides spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and some of the best photographic opportunities available in the national park.

Really well organised trip and although you could walk to the glacier yourself and see it from a distance the guides on this trip made it super enjoyable and being able to get on the water and touch the
icebergs was a treat. Wonderful photo opportunities and well worth the money.

Well organised, efficient, good guiding.
Nice boat ride on the lake getting close to the icebergs. Unfortunately due to safety precautions, we had to stay a long way from the terminal face.

I don't recommend anyone with kids or elders should join a glacier trip with a company named "GLACIER EXPLORERS" at Mt Cook, Lake Pukaki, New Zealand.
(you can find this company from FB)
I joined the glacier trip with my kid on 8 Jan 2017. There was a rude bus driver named "Rochelle". This rude driver also work as a guide asked my kid to walk close to group. Rochelle even said if my kid cannot walk as fast as the group, I have to carry him on this rocky road which is very easy to trip over, she completely ignore client safety. Also, she said I only have 2 choices, 1) carry him; 2) go back to the bus and cannot join the tour. She only wanted the tour finish asap and she can finish off her duty.
I can't believe that the staff is that unprofessional and rude to client.
I definitely not recommend this trip and this company with such kind of staff with this attitude......

Guide was very knowledgable and gave easy to understand information on glaciers which helped on our travels in the South Island.
However the Tasman Glacier wasn't spectacular and the icebergs (best bit) could all be viewed for free.

Nice experience.
Guides told a lot of good information, impressive to see the glacier-ice so close (ice-bergs in the lake) and we were lucky to see a part dropping into the lake.

We had perfect weather, and it was great to see the huge icebergs up close.
We almost did the kayak tour, but then we realized that it wasn't in Tasman Lake - it was in another lake, with teeny tiny icebergs. Tasman Lake has huge icebergs, and the lake is too big to get to see the most impressive stuff via kayak (if there was an option to kayak on this lake). Our guide was only so-so (talked a lot about stuff he didn't know anything about), but the experience was great - the icebergs are really dynamic!
