This reserve of coastal bush has magnificent examples of kohekohe and a pohutukawa arch.
The track starts from the northern end of Papa Aroha settlement and beach, 14 km north of Coromandel Town and 12 km south of Colville. At the entrance to the campground is a parking area and picnic spot.
Steps have been built into the steepest sections of the track. Some parts are metalled.
Beside the track is a fenced grave, known as Joe’s Grave. It is thought he was an anonymous sailor whose body was washed up on the shore nearby.
