Great stopover on our journey from Palmerston North to Tauranga with our new caravan. Easy accessibility and turning area. Clean and neat with lovely gardens. Woke up to lots of birds singing and even rabbits hopping about. No light in toilet but facilities clean with wash basin. Did the Bush Walk in the morning which was an added bonus. Highly recommended.

We arrived at Mt Lees Reserve mid-afternoon and walked the beautiful and peaceful rainforest track. Along the way we were delighted to meet up with the Owner/Manager Graham who was doing his regular jog around the track, and we felt very privileged that he stopped his exercise to chat with us and give us a little history about the reserve.
The camp area was very neat and tidy and we were one of four motorhomes quietly camped there for the night. The toilet facilities were also very clean and tidy.
Lovely small spot. 5$ donation. Peaceful and quiet.
Nice place for stay at 1 night. Lovely bushwalk close by. Toilet clean, little summer house and little kitchen invite to stay

Quiet tranquil spot. Arrived around 9.30pm and only one vehicle parked up. Lots of bird song, amenities included a little kitchenette (in the summerhouse) which had a microwave, kettle and sink. Gorgeous!!!
Amazing, peaceful spot. Facilities are lovely. The walk through the nearby gardens is great also.

Amazing place! The bushwalk was really pretty and there was even a free kitchen with power to use. Thank you so much!
Loved this place! Super friendly folks who run it. Friendly ducks too! The bush walk is so nice and peaceful! Must stop. Easy choice to donate money to support this place.
Great little spot a short distance from the highway, glad I took the chance on it. Beautiful 2.5km circuit walk which was lovely after a ferry and long drive. Nice summer house/ shelter with chairs you can hang out in, and small kitchen area attached. I felt really safe as a lone female in my van. Was happy to pay the suggested $5 donation.

Just what we needed to pull into after a long drive. We found it easy enough to find. Just drive slowly down the road and look out for the right drive to pull into. Beautiful location. You just parkbup on a big gravel car park off a quiet road. We were met by a friendly duck in the morning. Toilets good given its free. Suggested $5 donation for the night. Perfect.
More park then parking lot, a fairly large free camping spot. Well accessible by a sealed road, two entrances, the first (indicating the b&b) takes you to the parking lot, Just drive on a 100 meters, the second is officially the exit, but you can also access here. We didn't have problems finding it in the dark. Toilets are clean, flush, toilet paper and paper towels are provided. There's even a swing for wee kids.

Well this was a surprise! The carpark is small but quiet and surrounded by bush. You park on gravel and the amenities (toilet) are basic.
The ducks hang around to the point of annoyance BUT what we discovered is that there is a wonderful bush walk through Mt Lees Reserve which is just amazing! We did it with two young kids and they loved it!
We would never have known about this place - and just took a chance after seeing it on the Rankers app, but I'm so glad we did!
I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable to complain about a free campground, but to be fair it was just ok for one night. The location is nothing special; the flush toilets could use some new seats. Actually we saw long drop toilets being better. We arrived after nightfall and had problems finding the entry. There are 2: one to the B&B and another for campervans to the lot.
This place was fairly easy to find and only about 15 minutes outside of Sanson. The place was very quiet - only a couple of other vans there. It is quite close to a road so you do hear the cars passing. The stars here were absolutely gorgeous. The bathrooms were fairly clean with running water and toilet paper. There are a couple of picnic tables and a swing set.
