Fantastic campsite with friendly crowd and the facilities are always clean when I went to use them. Nice river flowing through the grounds, dog friendly location with a walkway access to the beach a few minutes away

This is our first time camping, and we are in our 50s—late bloomers! This place is beautiful with a hike to the top of the mountain to see the sun set that will take your breath away. Keep going and you’ll find a black sand beach that is life-changingly beautiful. The camp is very pretty and has hook ups and facilities. Managers were terrific. Angie can sort anything out. We would return.

Lovely, welcoming camp with immaculately mowed lawns, great showers and nice little spots for camping. A great respite after cycling all day. Friendly owner too! I paid $15 to pitch my tent in a shady area by a stream. This was one of the best campsites I stayed at during my trip.

Lovely place. Clean showers and toilets and kitchen area too. Great spot to park up with the back of the van open listening to the river flowing past. Owner is very nice too. No reception or wifi which is great to switch off :)

It is advertised as "wild and remote". And so it is. Just a lovely place. No WiFi = relaxing. Friendly staff. A really beautiful 10-minute-walk across some hills and fences brings you to a lovely beach. The sunset alone is worth the 6 Km bumpy gravel road (To avoid 20 Km gravel road make sure to not take the road from Raglan). For me a little too many "don't do this or you'll be sent out"-notes but they must have had their experience with strange guest's behaviour. We'd stay there again.

Nice campsite with a friendly and relaxed owner. You'll find everything you need there. Green grass, warm shower, tidy kitchen, rubbish separated, beautiful nature. I liked it there.

Truth is we ended up here because all campings were full in Raglan! But we were happy about it, we would have lost the opportunity to see this wild site, where you have no network and lots of NZers come! The road there from Raglan is full of curves and gravel. Manager is nice, kitchen and toilets clean and nice! Covered eating area.
The beach is 15 min away walking, going up and down some mounts around. Lots of fishermen and surfers in the beach. Sunset was great from the top of one of the mounts!
Cost $12.50 p.p. for unpowered site. (January 2015)

Delightful well landscaped site. Very friendly manager in a quiet way, who has looked after site with loving care for 30 or more years. Nice clean facilities including kitchen. At 10 NZD per person without power, really good value for money.

Excellent camp ground with its own little swinging pond too, very nice but bit muddy water (not that I care) basic facilities and toilets/showers. This place is all about being out in nature, 15 min walk/2 min drive to a perfect surf beach. A truly AMAZING place for a weekend, only bout 1 h 45 min from Auckland.
