Absolutely great trip. We've seen a lot of hector dolphines, penguins and even seals. Great kind staff and a stunning landscappe. Absolute worth the money!!
Great cruise, friendly staff and knowledgeable captain.
Nice two hour cruise on the open sea. Have seen Hectors Dolphins, penguins and seals, Staff are very helpful and nice.
Small boat and friendly hosts, special dolphins and penguin detector. Wonderful landscapes and very interesting wildlife, with 100% chance to see dolphins and seals (and sometimes penguins).
We had a great time using this company. The boat is modern, funky and clean with various seating options. We sat upfront - be prepared to get wet on rocky days - but this was all part of the fun! Very informative throughout and we were also entertained on board by Buster the dolphin-hearing dog. We were given a complimentary drink on arrival (wine, beer or soft) and an enormously tasty home baked cookie during the cruise. A storm had just passed through Akaroa the day before, so we were advised the cruise would be rough (TIP: If you are prone to sea sickness, purchase some Sealegs tablets from the Akaroa pharmacy at least an hour before. Worked wonders for us and ensured we enjoyed the cruise, no matter how rough the sea was). Because of the weather conditions, the route was slightly limited but we still saw plenty of seals and geographical sights. We did catch a short and unexpected glimpse of a dolphin - they just didn't want to make a big appearance that day - which is apparently quite rare. We would definitely use this company again. Great value and excellent customer service and communication to ensure the cruise still went ahead safely, despite the lingering bad weather.
Amazing and super friendly staff. Free drinks and cookies. Family owned. Our guide was really putting an effort in to get us to see some dolphins. We saw lots of em plus seals, penguins and albatross. Definitely worth the money.

Absolutely pleasant experience. They provide complimentary wine, beer, soft drinks and cookies as promised. The crews are informative and friendly. The cruise is comfortable with toilet on board. The Dolphins are lovely and they happily swim around the cruise. Highly recommended.
Awesome trip, you have to be patient, it took us three attempts to swim with the dolphins but well worth the wait.
Wonderful cruise, nice people, we saw dolphins and seals. We loved Hector, the dog on the boat, He barked when he saw or heard dolphins - so cute.
An incredible experience, one of the best memories I have ever had!
Save up to 70% on campsite fees! Support conservation and experience the natural beauty of NZ. 79 Department of Conservation campsites, one convenient pass.
You can see the worlds smartest dolphins and swim with them! After hours in the (cold) water you get hot chocolate and back at the office you can take a hot shower! Only problem is sometimes you cannot see many dolphins but then you get some money back.
Nice and friendly team, good service and they showed us more than just the dolphins.
Excellent cruise for our last day in NZ! Hector dolphins, birds, penguins, seals & amazing scenery! The crew was very professional & nice, great memories before our flight!
Excellent experience, we came very very close to the dolphins, very individual handled. We recommend the guys fom Akaroa Dolphins
Great nature cruise through Akaroa Harbour. Family owned business. Incredibly friendly hosts.
Excellent staff, value for money, considerate boatmanship, wonderful dolphin dog! Altogether a great deal and worth every penny! Saw dolphins and more.
Amazing trip out on the harbour. Right from the person who sold us the ticket in the shop, through to the wonderful friendly crew on board, we could not fault the service. The scenery and wildlife were spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed having such a wonderful commentary telling us all about the sights we were seeing. Murf Murf the dolphin dog was priceless with his ability to locate the dolphins and a wonderful addition to the trip. All in all a fabulous trip and we would highly recommend Akaroa Dolphins to anyone looking for a cruise out on Akaroa Harbour.
Nice staff, beautiful boat, very good trip.
Good kayaks, helpful staff.
Best price in town and we saw dolphins.
Great service, informative captain/guide. 2 hours of fun and information - saw many dolphins.
Access savings worth hundreds of $$ on Top Ranked NZ Accommodation and Activities for just $1 per day.
Dolphin watching in Akaroa, very nice and personal - not commercial.
Great commentary of local history and wildlife. Loved 'murph' the dog who can hear the dolphins coming before we saw them. Complimentary drink and homemade biscuit. Very friendly crew.
Wonderful and very intimate cruise. Only 8 on a luxury boat. We saw dolphins and other wildlife.
Very funny dog that hear the dolphins, so you are prepare to see and photograph them. The hosts are excellent and give a lot of information and give us all the time we need to enjoy the wildlife.
Absolutely wonderful! They offered us a drink when we first boarded. We choose to sit at the top, and the view was amazing - a nice cosy area too. Felt like real luxury - at a really good price. I'm thinking thought that the thing that sets this service apart from all the others is the staff - super friendly and the skipper provided really brilliant commentary - Funny, and he was talking with the same level of enthusiasm you'd expect someone describing it for the first time to have - and he must have done it a million times. A++++++
Nice day cruise within a beautiful environment. Very friendly and knowledgable skipper.
We were made very welcome on arrival with a welcome drink. It was a perfect day for our trip. The boat is not too big and there were not too many people aboard so it felt quite personal. Murphy is amazing and hears the echos of the Hector Dolphins before they appear. We saw a pod of approx 20 dolphins. The hosts were very thorough explaining the sights. We also saw nz fur seals and a penguin. This trip was on the last day of our month long nz adventure and a wonderful end to a wonderful adventure.
Great cruise, very knowledgeable skipper and staff, Murphy the dolphin spotting dog is a great character and added to the fun. awesome experience!
Amazing tour. An opportunity to see Hector Dolphins, seals, blue penguins and more.
Excellent value for money tour where we saw seals, dolphins and the amazing volcanic coastline. Well run, small company with an excellent skipper.
Only one firm now does it. Good information even about the land.
John & Vicki
This was a great cruise with personal attention - extra effort was made to make this an excellent sight seeing trip.
Great company, we did not get to swim with dolphins though we received a refund because of that.
Be aware! This is not that 'swim with the dolphin' thing. But they give you a nearly 2 hour round trip around Akaroa. Views of dolphin, fur seals, penguins and a deep inside in Akaroa history. Last but not least enjoy the included drinks and cookies. For swimming with dolphins go to Black Cat Cruises. It is ok but not more.
A great tour as boat was small and personal. More than just dolphins, albatross, penguins. Guides know their stuff.
Loved this cruise, we saw heaps of the gorgeous little Hector's Dolphins. Staff were very friendly & information & we got a nice cuppa & home made cookie as well.
Very friendly knowledgable crew, very obliging. Good views of dolphins, penguins and seals as promised.
Very good and helpful team who were experienced and confident, prepared to take time to see the wildlife.
Very personal boat trip, got to see Hector dolphins, the owner Tony is a very friendly charater, small boat = small group.
Great boat: small and comfortable with knowledgeable, hospitable and friendly crew. Lots of dolphins in the harbour on the day we went and I'd rather have spent more time with them than going right out to the harbour entrance, but probably others on board would have complained if they'd missed that. Home-made cookies a real bonus!
We really enjoyed the tour infomation and saw seals and penguins.... The crew worked hard to keep us happy, sadly the swell caused some seasickness as we ventured out to find the dolphins but generally the boat was comfortable.
This trip was a highlight of our visit to Akaroa. The captain was knowledgeable and we enjoyed learning about the history of the area. Very good wine served and saw lots of dolphins and seals. It was more expensive than the milford sound cruise we did but still lovely.
Scenic cruise around Akaroa Harbour. Boat went despite only 3 passengers. Very informative and good fun. Saw dolphins. Drinks were provided on-board. $60 felt a little expensive.
Small boat very friendly personnal well worth $50
Are mainly interested in doing business. Not very helpful. Short information and too strict.
Very familiar atmosphere on the boar with a complementary rink and cookie cute dog on the boat and a very nice tour around Akaroa Harbour.
seeing dolphins! only 6 people on the boat. very good.
Like it very much
great trip on small catamaran with friendly and enthusiastic crew, saw hectors dolphins and furseal colony.
A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!!
We saw a lot of dolphins.
We had a fantastic trip with this company - everyone involved was friendly and helpful. It was undoubtedly worth every penny - saw lots of dolphins, some fur seals and even a couple of penguins, as well as umpteen shags and gulls. The commentary was clear and informative - learned lots and also aware that these people are doing something they know and enjoy so want us to share it too! The boat is perfect as it's not too big and very stable, also low enough at the back to feel you can almost touch the dolphins - we got fantastic videos and photos. Murphy the dog is a marvel - if you watch him, you'll know exactly where the wildlife is going to appear next! We went out on the most amazing day weather-wise, which obviously added to the trip.
The complimetary drink and home baking was an added bonus :)
A good organised company, we saw dolphins and swimmed in the sea, but the dolphins went away, so we got some money back.
Akaroa Dolphins responds:

The Akaroa Dolphins Team.
Friendly, lots of info.
We saw dolphins, seals & penguins. Nice crew, resonable price.
Nice but not so many dolphins. The tour was really nice though.
Nice and friendly staff. Small boat, free drinks and cookies (:
I was expecting more contact with dolphins.
Compared with kayak trips, too loud and stinky by motor boat. ;)
Great company. Good guides and a lot of interesting information.
Excellent company. Superb guides. Equipment and of course dolphins.
Cheaper than "swimming with dolphins", you see dolphins.
Saw three of four dolphins, nice place to sail around. Complimentary beer! Really good tour - they tried really hard to find dolphins for us.
Awesome. Fantastic to see the dolphins.
