Great campsite tucked away in the sub-tropical forest. Nice wide berths and picnic tables. The owners have had the land since 85 and are very knowledgeable especially regarding the local flora, really enjoyed the glow worm tour. Don’t miss it!

The nocturne walk to the glow worm was awesome!

Tidy mowed stretch for about a dozen campers. The host is a great teacher telling us about the native animals, flora, birds and insects. The glow worm tour is so amazing. I highly recommend this spot for an overnight stay.
Good for camping with a tent. $10 per person, which includes toilet and drinking water. It is a beautiful campsite and the owner takes you on a interesting glow worm tour for $5.
Beautiful campsite with incredibly interesting owner who has converted his land into a conservation area. For $5/person he will take you on a little glow worm tour which is well worth doing! His knowledge of the local flora and fauna is fantastic
Cost (2p, non-powered): $20
Location: Great, quiet, surrounded by trees
Facilities: Currently only a long drop (very new and clean) and picnic tables but a kitchen area is being built
Sandflies: A few
Other: Lots of wildlife (Weka, frogs) and great night skies
The only small minus of the place were sandflies that were not too annoying as in some other areas of NZ but still, didn’t let us enjoy our breakfast as much as we wanted :) Other than this, it was great! The place is looked after by very nice owners, the toilet was very clean! Lot of space for tents. Definitely good value of money for what this campground has to offer. Be prepared for the bird’s concert all day all night as the site is sort of in the middle of a rain forest and birds feel very comfortable there :) Also, huge plus, for $5 you can take a part in the wee trip to glow-worms spot, guided by the owner. It’s very close to the campground and really magical! With Bruce’s (guide and the owner) passion and knowledge about flora and fauna around we had the great time! Much more entertaining than many more expensive glow warms trips in NZ :)
Great little spot nice forest entrance with 9 big sites with picnic tables on gravel patches with nice owners and a long drop a little bit of a walk away from the sites.
on a rainy day the weka birds come out to play and hide under your camper van.
Friendly owners and a great site. Very good value for money and got the sense they are planning on adding more facilities soon. We were lucky enough for the owners to take us on a walking tour of the on site glow worms which was incredible. Highly recommend.
